The workshop was hosted by the Wildfire Resilience Inter Agency Working Group in partnership with American Forests and the Wildland Fire Leadership Council, bringing together federal agency leadership with partners – including state agencies, tribes, NGOs and communities – who are recovering from recent fires in Colorado and New Mexico to identify strategies to better coordinate post-fire actions, funding, and resources. The workshop was hosted by Denver Water on January 23-24, 2023.

The Growing Challenge of Post-fire: A Workshop of the Wildfire Resilience Inter Agency Working Group and Wildfire Commission

Objectives
• Improve inter agency coordination for more effective post-fire work.
• Identify opportunities to improve existing post-fire funding programs.
• Surface barriers to effective coordination across the spectrum of post-fire work: assessments and emergency response, intermediate recovery and mitigating threats to community assets, and long-term recovery and restoration.
• Illuminate policy ideas for overcoming these barriers and promoting community navigation and access to post-fire resources from across federal agencies
